Last night I was on my way to visit Old Union Missionary Baptist Church for their fall revival. It had been a beautiful Fall day. As I traveled down 31-W north toward Woodburn, Kentucky I could see the most ominous clouds starting to turn pitch black dark ahead. Behind me in the rearview mirror was the most beautiful blue sky I had ever seen. I immediately thought to myself..."well if this isn't just a representation of life."
How many times in our walk with Christ have we been traveling toward the storm just knowing it would be bad. We could look back and see how nice and serene everything looked behind us, and we just wanted to turn around right there. I think thats a fairly normal thought process. At least for me it is. We like easy!
I'm persuaded that at some point someone has preached/told a lie that living for God would be easy. However, I've turned my bible upside down trying to find that scripture. Yet, I still have not found it. It's not going to be easy. The only comfort you will ever find is being close to the Lord, and realizing that in these storms he is the one who can help. He will guide, lead, protect, and comfort during these stormy seasons of life. (For those who might be unsaved and reading this, you WILL have these storms too. You just won't have the great protector to help you out. So, I urge you to seek him for the salvation of your soul.)
Instead of always being ready to turn around; take a good look at the storm and know that our God is greater, our God is bigger, and our God made the storm.
To supplement this post - I encourage you to google/youtube the song "Eye of the Storm" by the Inspirations Quartet. What a great reminder.
