Storm clouds are gathering...

10/13/2015

Last night I was on my way to visit Old Union Missionary Baptist Church for their fall revival. It had been a beautiful Fall day. As I traveled down 31-W north toward Woodburn, Kentucky I could see the most ominous clouds starting to turn pitch black dark ahead. Behind me in the rearview mirror was the most beautiful blue sky I had ever seen. I immediately thought to myself..."well if this isn't just a representation of life."

How many times in our walk with Christ have we been traveling toward the storm just knowing it would be bad. We could look back and see how nice and serene everything looked behind us, and we just wanted to turn around right there. I think thats a fairly normal thought process. At least for me it is. We like easy!

I'm persuaded that at some point someone has preached/told a lie that living for God would be easy. However, I've turned my bible upside down trying to find that scripture. Yet, I still have not found it. It's not going to be easy. The only comfort you will ever find is being close to the Lord, and realizing that in these storms he is the one who can help. He will guide, lead, protect, and comfort during these stormy seasons of life. (For those who might be unsaved and reading this, you WILL have these storms too. You just won't have the great protector to help you out. So, I urge you to seek him for the salvation of your soul.)

Instead of always being ready to turn around; take a good look at the storm and know that our God is greater, our God is bigger, and our God made the storm.

To supplement this post - I encourage you to google/youtube the song "Eye of the Storm" by the Inspirations Quartet. What a great reminder.

    About the Pastor:

Hi, my name is Taylor Gregory, and I am the Pastor here at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

God saved my soul at 11 years old in July of 2004 on the front pew of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Simpson County, Kentucky. I joined there on July 10th, 2005 and was baptized into the Lord's Church on July 17th, 2005 in Drakes Creek.

I have been called into the Gospel Ministry for almost six years, and just recently surrendered to the call in January of 2013. I am a former song leader, and still occasionally reprise that role.

I filled many appointments as a visiting preacher. Traveling to Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas, West Virginia, Tennessee and all over Kentucky. The Lord also permitted me to work in several revivals.

The first time that I filled an appointment at Mt. Calvary was in January of 2015. After a few return visits, the church called me to Pastor in April, 2015. I was ordained by Pleasant Hill where I still held membership on July 11th, 2015. I formally became the Pastor here on July 12th, 2015. I am currently a member of Mt. Calvary.

I also reside in south Nashville near the church, and am able to be there fairly quick if need arise. It also makes for the ability to sleep in a tad bit on Sunday morning, just kidding.

God has blessed me to be here, and I count myself to be among some of the finest people this side of eternity. If you are looking for a place to attend, do come and visit. You'll not find a friendlier church!
